光間ギャラリーは日本の作庭家、N-tree長崎剛志（1970年生）による庭のためのアートを紹介します。彼は十年にわたり数々の現代アート的庭園を作庭してきました。
長崎は庭のためのアートオブジェをつくるとき、自然のもつ美しさに対する感動を、そのままの形に置き換えたいと思います。その行為はそれらを刻んで形をつくり出すのではなく、それを型取ることにより自然を保持することです。 竹、石、葉、などの素材はガラス、ブロンズなどのアートオブジェとして、庭に明かりや潤いを与えるための要素に生まれ変わります。
それらのアートオブジェは美しさへの感動と共に庭への思い出（MEMENTO）をも内包しています。 その眼に見ることのできない想いを物質化する象徴主義的方法は、禅の精神哲学をもつ日本庭園より影響されたものと言えます。
長崎はこのようにコメントしています。
「私の庭に据えるアートはあまり主張をもっていません。浸透して見えなくなるぐらい甘くて曖昧な雰囲気のものです。」
本展覧会は、庭の制作から着想した樹木の種、根の記憶をテーマにした木版画やガラスの筧、水器、石の噴水、盆栽、庭の写真など様々な要素による庭的インスタレーションを展開します。また、ロンドンで制作した庭を実際に見学するガーデンツアーや、ディスカッションを通して人々の庭への思い出を語り会いたいと思います。
KOKAN gallery is pleased to present Art for the Garden by Japanese art gardener Takeshi Nagasaki (1970-) of N-tree, creator of many modern gardens over the last decade.
When making art for the garden Nagasaki wants to transpose the essence
of deep meditative thought into the beauty of natural form. The act is
not to create nature by sculpting but to preserve nature by casting. Using
materials such as bamboo, leaf, and stone, and changing their material
state into glass and bronze represents a kind of rebirth of the natural
elements, giving light and energy back to the garden.
These art objects also represent a kind of MEMENTO for the garden that contains profound sense of beauty. The symbolism method, which materialises the invisible realm of the memory is a strong influence in the Japanese garden embodying the spirit of Zen.
Nagasaki comments: "Seldom is the art set in my garden insistent.
Rather it is of things sweet and ambiguous, permeating the atmosphere and
becoming almost invisible. "
This exhibition develops the concept of garden installation using various
objects (waterspout, water basin, fountain stone, bonsai tree, photograph,
woodcut print) and encapsulates ideas (such as the consciousness of seeds
and tree roots) inspired by Nagasaki's work in the garden. Moreover, we
will explore memento for the garden with a program including discussion
and an open garden tour of recent projects.
