Press Release
Recollect reflects upon the historical context of collecting and displaying objects.
This year, focusing on curiosity cabinets each venue becomes a wonder room, each cabinet a memory theatre and each object is a loaded, powerful, personal trophy. Recollect’s four venues orbit the Collect show of prized objects and established galleries, giving more to consider, adding over forty artists in two group installations and two solo installations.
Recollect is a continuing and developing curatorial idea. As with a personal private collection when organised and displayed gains further meaning, defining the owner. This aspect is emulated in these public shows a beautiful way to bring order to chaotic diversity, a truer reflection of our homes.
